The Points of Sale Module (POS) was designed
for replacing a Till and being able to write an
Invoice/receipt. The Invoice which is created within the Point
of Sale can be stored after completion in the Archives of
P.O.S. Transactions can be transferred to the
Book Keeping section as a
Transaction or as Category Totals or as Card,
Cash, Cheque Totals.
You can also send the invoice to the Invoicing
section where it is stored, this is used for lay buys or account customers. Parts are pulled from the
Price
Book and put onto the Point of Sale screen
by directly bar-code scanning or by hot keys or by the [ Find = ] Button
or the [ Find from Stock Book button ] or just typing in the part number. When
finalised the Invoice/receipt is produced and then transferred into the
Book
Keeping section by Each Invoice or a log file at the end of
the day.
Note: Transactions can be transferred into Book Keeping
in 3 different ways.
1. By Invoice: and is sent straight to book
keeping.
2. By Category: (If using this option we recommend you also select By One
category as below in option 3) This is the category which each part is tagged
as and is sent to a log file until you log to book keeping at the end of the day.
3. By One Category but split into Card, Cash, Cheque
and is sent to a log file until you log to book keeping at the end of the day.
To setup see See logging
The Point of Sale module is linked to the Price Book, so when you
transfer or scan-in parts from the Price Book
into the Point of Sale Module the stock is
reduced and the sale is recorded. If an item's quantity is
changed from within the Point of Sale it will be
reflected in the Price Book stock and sales. But
this will only apply to parts selected or scanned from the Price
Book in the first place. If you have used the
[F4] manual text input
section to enter a part, changes to these parts will not reflect
to the Price Book.

part descriptions in the Price Book when parts
are originally created.
You may have up to three symbol , as
long as they are entered at the end of the description without
spaces in between.

The special fields are:

disabled is the part number is the link to the Price Book
data base and cannot be changed. You can however change the
description, the unit price, the quantity and the tax percentage.
What happens in this mode is when the Text Box loads it
automatically, replaces that item stock and price back into the

To specify characters that aren't displayed when you press a key
(such as Enter or Tab) and keys that represent actions rather
than characters, use the codes shown below:
| Key | Code | Key | Code |

| Del | {DELETE} or {DEL} | Down Arrow | {DOWN} |

| Shift | + |
| Control | ^ |
| Alt | % |
To specify that Shift, Ctrl, and/or Alt should be held down
while several other keys are pressed, enclose the keys' code in
parentheses. For example, to have the Shift key held down while E
and C are pressed, use "
+(EC)". To have Shift held down while E is pressed, followed
by C being pressed without Shift, use "+EC".
To specify repeating keys, use the form {key number}; you must
put a space between key and number. For example, {LEFT 42} means
press the Left Arrow key 42 times; {h 10} means press h 10 times.
The Part description can also be made into a hot key
macro by putting a ' % ' in the front

used categories.

Quick Find
Do not mix this button up with the " Find = "
button. The "Find =" button will list parts, and is faster as it is
part of the point of sale program and it is a better way to find
Items because all the macro's will work in the" Find = " mode.
Or
When the Price Book is loaded from the Point
of Sale Module there are two extra buttons on the
screen, on the lower right hand corner. These buttons are Return
Stay Open, Return and Close.
Return Stay Open, Return and Close Buttons are part of
the Price book
program.

These buttons are to return you back to the Point of
Sale once you have selected the parts you require. Return
and Stay Open, returns you to the Point of Sale
module, leaving the Price Book open in the background. This is
recommended as it means you can swap between your Point
of Sale and Price Book very quickly
without having to load the Price Book each time. Return
and Close option closes the Price Book on exit.
To input parts from the Price Book into the Point of Sale Module
select one of the files on the right hand side of the Price Book
main screen. This can be done in several different ways.
1. The first way is by using a Bar Code reader.
With the file name as a bar code.
The Price Book programme allows you to produce
your own bar codes. You can produce a bar code of the file name.
These bar codes could be laid out on a card of some sort. Then
just drag the bar code reader across that code.
2. The second way to load up the file is to use the arrow key and
scroll up and down the file name list box until the file you wish
is highlighted. Then press Enter. This will load
the file.
3. The third way is if you know the name of the file you can
start to type the name in. The list will automatically jump to
the name by linking the keys pressed to the file name. Once the
file has been highlighted press Enter to load.
4. The fourth way to load the file is click on the filename
with the mouse and double click to load.
5. The fifth way to load the file is to use one of the other
methods to highlight the file and then click on the Open
File Button and this will open the file as well.
Open File Button.
Once the file has been opened in one of the previous ways you
will see on the screen all of the parts within the file listed in
front of you. Like file selection, part selection can be done in
several different ways as well.
1. If you know the part number that you require start to type
the part number and the part will automatically be found by the
keys pressed, then press Enter to accept.
2. The second way to select a part is to arrow down
or page down until the part is found, then press
Enter to select.
3. The third way is to scroll down using the scroll
bar and double click on the part to select it.
4. The fourth way to select the part can be done using a
bar code scanner. Just run the bar code across the part
number on the item and the part will be selected. If the enter
has been included on the end of the bar code
stickers or the bar code reader it automatically triggers an
enter key press after a bar code read, then the part will
automatically be selected.
When one of the above selections has been done a window will
appear asking you for the quantity. This is the quantity of parts
you wish to be transferred to the Point of Sale invoice /
receipt. This window also tells you how many parts you
have left in stock and the unit price. The Unit Price
can be changed if required and the mark up rate can be changed as
well to change between wholesale, trade and retail prices. Once
the quantity has been entered do not press the enter key if you
wish to change the Unit Price as pressing the
enter key will tell the window that everything in this window has
been accepted as OK. Use the Tab Key to tab to
any other item on the screen if you wish to make changes. Once
you have finished the changes or have only entered your quantity
press Enter and the window will disappear and
the part will be transferred to the Point of Sale.
Within the Quantity Window rather than pressing enter you can
also have a choice of pressing the OK button or
the Return Button or to abort the transaction
the Exit Button. The OK button
is used when you want to add another part to the Point of
Sale invoice. By clicking on the OK
button it will return to the list. You can then select another
item from the list or return, select a different file and then a
part from that file. The Return Button will
automatically return you to the Point of Sale to
allow you to view the part you have selected.
The Return and Stay Open Button
If you want to return back to the Point of Sale just click the Exit
button or hit Escape and you will return to the
Price Book main menu. Then simply press the Return
and Stay Open button to return to the Point
of Sale module.
On Return to Point of Sale
The Point of Sale module will have the parts you
have selected listed in front of you. At this point the invoice
could be printed if required or if text needs to be entered onto
your invoice as well. A brief note or a part that is not in the Price
Book can also be entered by clicking on the Text
Button on the Point of Sale form, or
hitting the F10 button. By doing this the
Text Input Window will appear at the top of the form.
